Something isn't right. I've gone through 4 V1 preamp tubes in the past 6 weeks. Then today, after playing for a few minutes, the amp started popping, then hissing, then all hell broke loose and she was screaming.

I'd put a new preamp tube in V1 and the amp would be sweet for a few days - week....then it would get noisy. Repeat process and the symptoms would appear again.

I looked at the V1 socket from inside the amp, thinking a bad solder joint or loose contact, it looks okay.

Symptoms are the same with a change of power tubes.

    Grrrr.........

Buy it new?...take it back. Second hand?....take it to a tech, unless you know how to use a DVM.

I don't think it's the tubes...but to answer your question.

JJ, EH, and assorted preamp tubes from my stash - mostly NOS GE, JAN, etc. I even tried the preamp tubes from my Tweed Deluxe which I know sounded sweet.

Ok I was just thinking if you were blowing the same brand of tubes maybe you just got a batch of bad ones.
That was the only idea I had other than ripping into it.
