    FWIW, increasing one of the .1uF bias coupling caps to .2uF should get the bias supply to -50V (Sim courtesy of Dave H @ ampage)

    I followed this thread with s lot of interest as i try to fix a problem on a tremolux ec reissue (the same as you have on your bench).

    Reviving old thread. Got another one in. Customer wants it louder. I'm thinking it would be a good candidate for a switched single/parallel first stage (to utilise the unused triode in V1). Also, the screen supply resistor is 4k7, and I bet it would sound cleaner and louder with 1k (like a BF Princeton) or a choke in there. Its still going to be dirtyish. Lifting the 1M in the tone stack will then allow practical cleanish gain. And a GZ34 with a bigger input cap for the bias supply to get more -ve bias voltage.

    All sorts of possibilities here.
