I have a set in my Strat. I really like them, especially in the bridge.
I know that they’re not very popular but I think they’re great. I tend to like hotter single coils.

I have the bridge pickup, but haven't installed/played it yet. I got it to rewind and tinker with.

1-piece bobbin #048610 (also used on some other pickups, and easy/safe to swap magnets)

no baseplate, white string wrap

A3 3/16" rod magnets flush on top

South up polarity

15.6k polysol (guessing 43awg)

The leads are yellow on the left, and blue on the right. I can't tell the winding direction, but I would guess ccw (from the looks of the wire).
Here's the weird part...from what I've seen most factory Tele pickups are North up & ccw, or South up & cw. Maybe mine really is South/cw, or maybe somebody flipped the polarity, I don't know.

If it's the Strat pickups you're interested in, search for that over at Strat-Talk. Lonn and others have had the Strat set.

No it was the Tele ones, but they're hard to get a review. Maybe, I should try YT. Thanks again all.

In post #3 the pic of the Dlx Drive bridge pickup shows the yellow lead is on the left, and blue is on the right.

In these two pics they are the opposite. One is the Fender stock pic, and the other was for sale online.

Fortune Tele, I assume that is the pic of YOURS?

Funny as with the blue wire on the RIGHT, I have pics of those as the older Highway Ones (pre upgrade -2006) where as the bridge was about 6.3K.

Hope I don't muddy the waters here, I am just going by stuff I shove in my folders thru the years.

Nothing worse than mis-information on the interweb.....................starts rumors, then soon ppl think are facts.........just because someone else said so.

Yes, the pic with no neck pickup. It was advertised as a used Deluxe Drive, but shows no pick scratches or other signs of use. Maybe it was sold as a factory 2nd (to the guy I bought it from), that could explain wires being reversed.

I put a set in a partscaster. The bridge is cool. Capable of some zing but I found the neck too wooly. Put a PAF in the neck, set low, on a series/split/parallel toggle. They pair pretty well

Anyone here using Fender deluxe Drive pickups? What's the good and the bad of your experience?
I hooked up the bridge Deluxe Drive pickup and played it some with a Texas Special at the neck. It has no base plate, and appears to be a south cw going by the lack of volume drop when both pickups are on. Then I reversed the leads to see just how bad it would be, and liked the middle position more, but it was noticeably quieter. Hearing it alone I'm not sure I would guess it was a Tele bridge pickup. It didn't sound bad at all, just different.

Thanks for the reply. I went with Tonerider vintage classics in the end, and I'm really enjoying them. Shame about the middle on your DD pickups though.
