Anyone ever order a guitar from the Fender Custom Shop, one designed to your specs? ( not a pre ordained custom shop model.....like a '62 Reissue or whatever......I mean one that you " dreamed " up and asked to be built to your specs. )

If so, please share with us

1) What dealer you ordered thru
2) time from order to delivery
3) customer service
4) realization of expectations
5) ( non essential...but cost )
6) other aspects of experience

fyi I play a used Custom Shop Strat I found online about 7 years ago....was close to every thing I would order

curious to hear from Custom Shop Customers

thanks in advance

My Fender guitars are all Custom Shop ordered, to the specs that I wanted in a guitar.
Ordered through Hill Country Guitars (Wemberley. TX) and Century Music ( San Antonio,TX).
I usually took 6 months for delivery.
All my expectation were met and exceeded!
Prices ..In 1999 a Strat I ordered was $4000.00+ ...the latest one a Tele, in 2007 would set you back, @$8k+, today.
Anything that you want.. type of woods, neck radius, type of frets, how you want your pickups wound, body color, types of saddles and unbelievable setup. The fit and finish is fantastic. If you want your guitar to sound, look and play the way you want it, this is the best way to get it right.

And yes, they play out of this world!!
I have only had good experiences with the Custom Shop.

You can get anything you want first you have to select a Master Dealer they can put you incontact with a Master Builder who will make anything you want.

You have to put $$ down and the guitars are usually over $6k

My "son in law" works there and sez, "If you can dream it, we can build it"

He is a great luthier and has done work for some of most major musicians/stars guitars....

The only Masterbuilt that I've ordered was the 50th Annversary 1954 Stratocaster reissue, and I ordered because I'll never get a decent deal on a real '54. I do have some other team built CS guitars, that were already the specs I was after. All have been just about perfect out of the box, with the exception of being slightly out of tune (from being shipped), and not having my preferred strings on them.
I recall being aprehensive about the price point, but once I discovered the higher quality bar of FCS, I understood the price points. Even the teambuilt seem like hand built guitars, which I guess they are just without a specific name on them.
