So, the whole lead up was a sham, total fiction. Brad never found a real blue paisley. Long story short, someone on a forum (likely this one) had some original blue paisley cling-foil. Zac got in touch with him, and Zac, Brad, and Joe Glaser made 2 prototypes. The custom shop models being released today have NEW cling-foil (Brad figured out how to have it made), are relic'ed, have Seymour Duncan "Lost Paisley" pickups, and come with the Glaser G/B Bender installed.

I knew Fender was working on getting something out. The only error in the story was, there was never an actual "found lost paisley".

Retail $7G

So... wall paper with paint and varnish on it is like some sort of mystical magical finish that is awesome and the guitars bearing it sound even better as a result. What do the tone wood devotees think of all that? I wish they would do the CIJ VR blue flower paper finish on a Tele. That would look amazing!

You didn't watch the video? The body is made of alder, paulownia, and spruce. To keep it light.

I read your former thread about Brads original.
Seems like the new CS model has a lot going on.
I still think paisley is mo pretty in pink.
Got my 85 PP around 2004 or 2005 when Brad was on the cover of Vintage Guitar mag.
I liked them long before though as a friend had a very tattered original in 1990 or so, got to play it and stare in awe.
The way a paisley relics is in a world of its own.
For sure making a Tele or Esquire lighter is top of my list due to my being a relic!
Too damn cheap to buy this one though.
Being cheap, is that a virtue?

Fender NEEDS TO MAKE A NEW LINE OF PAISLEYS at non-Lawyer prices.

I was a little surprised when the MIM Paisley Sigs were silver & black sparkle. Perfect opportunity to make an affordable (production model) Paisley. But I guess then the "future" Custom Shop model (which I guess was bound to happen at some point) wouldn't be as exclusive.

Nah, I didn't watch the video. I might later though. I'm not a tone wood connoisseur. At least as it applies to solid bodies. They have their place in the acoustic instrument world but with solid or semis it really is more down to tight build and solid materials that don't absorb too much of the string energy (there is indeed some nuance to this with specific frequency responses etc. but that's limited in solid instruments). I actually love fabric-finish and paper finished instruments if done well. You can achieve some amazing results like the Blue flower finish I referenced in my original post. My point is how many "tone wood" cork sniffers will swear up and down that Pau ferro fret boards sound so cheap next to rose wood and then go Ga-ga over a Tele with a piece of wall paper glued to the top! Or talk the downsides of multi piece guitar bodies and gush over a Les Paul with a two piece laminated top glued to a 2-3 piece body!

Maybe a CIJ might already be out there at real people prices!

They are well over $2000 CAD on Reverb and eBay. They never show up locally, either. I've been looking for 7 years.
I wish I got one when they were going for 1K around 2010. I just figure it's time for Fender US to kick out a reissue, or even MIM. I'm not picky.

That's a bummer.... you know... paper finish isn't that hard. MII squire epoxy paper of choice on the top and headstock for extra awesome and there you go! Do get new tuners, bridge and p'ups and you'e got the bomb-diggity!
