    I own a
65 and 68 Deluxe Reverb they both sound great.i feel the 65 BF sounds silent compared to the 68, due to the stack tone on the Custom Amp. I replaced some tubes, now they sound as they should. IMG_0541.jpg

"I bought a new car. It's a Chevy. I haven't even sat in it yet but I've talked to some friends and some mechanics and they told me it doesn't handle well and it's kinda slow. So I'm going to have the tires and wheels swapped out and I was thinking of maybe getting some mods like an intercooler or a turbo. Also I don't like Chevy cars."

My Vibrolux is great just as it came. It gets incredible tones at all volumes, and that is with the original tubes and speakers.
Forget what you have read, or heard, and plug the thing up and see what YOU think. Peronally, I think you could do a lot worse, unless you are into the really high gain stuff, in which you shouldn't be looking at the Vibrolux in the first place.

I did go this week to a local music store and they had the Fender Custom 68
Vibrolux in stock they also had a Tone King- Sky King in stock. I went into a
room with both Amps so I could A/B them. The Tone King was 3G and the Fender
was $1199. both Amps were on the same settings and the Reverb & Tremolo
on both sounded good but that's where it ends. The tone King sounded sweet
where the Fender sounded to Tinny and the first channel of the Fender did not
sound that good even after trying to dial it in. The Tone King when you it the sweet
spot was great. The main difference between the two amp from what I could here
are the parts they use in each Amp and the price.

I guess we all need to go out now and spend $3,000 on a Tone King. All our other amps are crap.

wait, you set two different model/manufacturer/price tier amps to the "same settings" and expected what exactly?

settings numbers between the two would have zero correlation.

    I'm convinced that you're trolling.

I just bought a Fender Blues Junior and a Tungsten Crema Wheat. Both amps are exactly the same: 15 watts with 12" speakers. Well, I mean, they're the same except for the parts they use in each amp and the price. Other than that, both the same. I turned all the knobs to 12 o'clock. No matter what I did, they didn't sound the same, even when I played a Tele, Strat, and LP. and an SG. Fender PCB is crap! Never mind that it's the best selling amp in the world, one of the most common amps on the planet. Those people don't realize

Bejebus why am I wasting my time on the donk post?

I just read this thread...and have a headache now. That’s gonna teach me

OP: believe what you want, but the only way you’ll find out if the (whatever the hell the equipment is) is right for you is to actually open the box and play it...

    Surreal

yeah, same guy. What's funny is that he has posts from this past April where he just bought a 68 Vibrolux Rev and he loved it. LOL.

Why did you order it if you know you don't like it?

I'm no penny pincher but this seems crazy to throw around $1200 like this

I'm starting to think this is a poorly conceived troll thread

Y'all likely noticed that in poor Latin "vox Phantom" means 'Phantom Voice'...

Or in plain English, 'why there's an Ignore button.'

Especially considering he had an SRRI as his main amp not too long ago.
