I'm looking for an inexpensive bridge pickup for an esquire I'm building (actually a snakehead) and want something that sounds decent clean and dirty. I found this on eBay for what seems to be very cheap. Anyone have experience with these? How do you like them, and how would you describe them?

My fav tele bridge pickup to date, and a lot of people here like em. The use a low wind for vintage goodness and twang but tame what otherwise might be too bright and shrill by using A2 magnets. Works great. It;s got the twang but also can sound full and thick with drive. I've used a lot of pickups including most of the fender USA models and i think the 62 is the most satisfying. There are others i like a lot too and will use others at times. But the 62 is the one i always seem to come back too. I can't imagine anyone disliking it to any large degree. May not be some peoples cup of tea but it's certainly a very well rounded pickup without many or any flaws. Can;t beat the price either. You don't have to buy em with the bridge either should u only need the pickup. I bought them seperately on ebay for about $40 shipped. Might be a buck or 3 more now but i haven't looked in a while.

Plus one the above.
It's a great pup. A fine all rounder. I have it in 2 Teles both 60s style and am very pleased. The price is a plus.

A third thumbs up from me, as well. The '62 bridge has been one of my favorite Tele pickups - heck, it is probably out and out my favorite... Chewy, appropriately bright, and distinctive - I was always pleasantly surprised at gigs at some point with the sound of my bridge pickup when I was playing my '62 AVRI. And for the price, it's difficult to beat.

I saw that same ad yesterday, too. I did some research on it, briefly, but couldn't find anything. It seemed too good to be true, since I paid about $40.00 for just a "Pat Pend" bridge, by itself.. I would have to buy another one anyway.. Then I just read this thread..... Wow! Just what the doctor ordered... Great reviews! So I just bought one for a new, [my third Parts-caster], that I am about to start on, Thanks! There are four left on eBay, according to their advert.

Grab 'em while you can.

I think I'm right in saying that this pickup is not on ANY current production telecaster. I think the '58, '64 are sort of direct replacements in the production line. Are they still being manufactured are all these production over stock?

Just going to echo the opinions of others in this thread. Clear but not sterile, bright but not harsh. Nice balanced lowish output bridge.

Fender has offered the entire '62 pickup/bridge assembly as a single part for quite a while. I couldn't tell you why, exactly. It's always been a good value vs. the cost of the separate parts. Shop around, as the pricing varies a bit.

I've just bought this pickup with the bridge plate and saddles, and found a good price on the matching neck pickup too. They are going to go in my 61 tribute in LPB build.

Slapped one in my esquire conversion last night...sweet tone. Excellent clarity to my ears anyhow. Have the modded Eldred wiring and each switch setting is distinct. Drives a little Bugera Vintage 5 Watt nicely. May grab a second for my CV50s BSB.

As you can see from my avatar I'm a fan of Lake Placid Blue. I have 3 teles in lpb which is a bit silly but I don't care ;)

Please post your lpb tribute I'd love to see it.
