There are 50 good matches for it. To keep things 100% Fender I'd use a Texas Special for traditional warm tone with definition or a Twisted Tele for a warm, clear, open tone that sits between Tele and Strat.

The best factory Telecaster tone I ever had was in a NOS 2000 AVRI Telecaster 62 Custom in candy apple red. I wasn't wild about the pointy-ish polepieces but the sound was all there. Did the most convincing "Middle Of The Road" Tele tones I'd ever heard.

Finished the Esquire I put the 62 bridge pup in. Sounds amazing. Clear and crisp through my Blues Deluxe reissue.

The one I have measures 6.4K Ohms.. Nice and 'jangley'.

Likewise. Mine measures 6.4K as well. Mine went in to a Road Worn 50's Tele. Had it in for a couple of weeks now. LOVE this pickup! I kept the tex mex neck pup which measures about 5.8K and sounds quite good with the 62 bridge. I bought it because of this thread. Thanks everyone!

Question: Since it's an Esquire, do you prefer the wide open on the switch or going through the tone pot?
I use the bypass position when I need a boost or want the twang kicking but I am learning how to dial in a good smooth sound with the tone and volume. The cocked wah position is for having some fun with a bit of drive added. Lol

Is the 62 pups (both neck and bridge) optimized to twang and play chicken pickin with? Or should i pull the trigger for another set?

I have the '62 bridge pickup paired with a classic '60s neck. It's ideal for country twang (which doesn't really interest me personally) but it can dirty up with character as well.

I had it wired as an Esquire before but found the '62 too bright, especially in the first position bypassing the tone pot—I'd want something hotter and fatter sounding for that. In a Tele it's great in all three positions, and backing off on the guitar tone and/or volume gets a warmer bridge sound.

So the classic 60 neck is hotter warmer sounding than ri 62 neck?

Op here.... I did order the pickup, but that particular project never really worked out so I sold the pu. Since then I’ve bought another that is now in my partscaster and it is everything you all have said. Just perfect IMO. I still need a neck pickup to go with it, but the bridge pu is awesome. I swapped from the Fender threaded steel saddles to some Wilkinson Compensated Brass saddles. Definitely an improvement to me. I liked the steel saddles but had some ringing/ buzzing at the saddle end. The brass fixed that and sound meatier and tamed the high end a bit.

Hands down, best deal in telecaster land. BTW, I got mine for about $7 cheaper. $7, that's an enchilada plate at El Jalisense in Alice, TX.

I've never tried a '62 RI neck to compare. Many moons ago, I ordered the pickups Fender puts in the MIM '60s Classic Telecaster. Instead, the dealer sent me the '60s Classic neck and the '62 RI bridge. They didn't want to rectify the mistake, so that's what I ended up with. It turned out to be quite serendipitous.

To be honest, I usually prefer a hotter bridge pickup, but the '62 is able to cover most bases if I take the time to shape the tone on the guitar and amp, plus it sounds great clean.

I have the 62 paired in different partscaster guitars with

A MIm 60s Classic
A Twisted Tele
A.62
A 64

The 64 is my favourite, but they all sound damn good. Had to change the polarity. That 60s Classic neck pup is a very good one. Can't go wrong

How would the Fender '62 Custom Tele Bridge Pickup pair up with the Fender American Standard 048609 neck pickup?

How does the 62bridge compare to the Nocaster bridge. Same-ish?
