Since I have an Alnico Jensen in mine it sounds fine in the studio but I have a hard time to cut through on stage - last night with piano, organ and a second guitar through a mesa I could barely hear myself. Maybe I should try a more efficient speaker?
I love the weigh reduction from the alnico so I think about a neodym magnet. Did anybody try the eminence lil' texas?

Just got a MIM Tweed - need to check for date when I open it up. Sounds good but I will be doing many of Billm's mods to clean it up headroom wise and the reverb will get work too...

    Me = Happy!

I'm still keeping an eye out for a good used Texas Red with the V30 in it...

I have most of the Billm mods, including the killer T020 OT, G12H speaker, JJ tubes....my settings are

    Volume 5
    Treble 7
    Middle 4
    Bass 3
    Master 6
    Fat On

This allows me to go between clean and some decent crunch using me Tele's
volume control. My Tubeworks 12ax7 pedal is there for more overdrive. Works well for me!

I pulled the trigger this week on a Carvin V3Micro head and 2 12 cab. I am very excited at getting this great unbelievably versatile amp. I think my BJr is headed for backup status but I may run 2 amps with the BJr kept on constant clean. I started a V3M thread in the amp lovers forum today

    PEACE, Richard

    Jewel lights, again.

The topic of installing a jewel light on a Blues Junior is an evergreen. I have always hated the huge hole you have to drill for a standard jewel holder and the subsequent modifications you have to make to the holder to get it to work with an LED.

The Series III BJr finally has a jewel light, but it's an ugly lump of a thing that doesn't allow interchangeable jewels. So I figured, if you're going to give up interchangeability, why not thread the chassis and screw the jewel in directly? It would be smaller and sleeker, with the least possible intrusion in terms of the size of the hole you have to drill.

I finally accomplished that, after a number of false starts. Many of the jewels out there are a weird metric super-fine thread, but the ones that Antique Electronics sells are an American 9/16"-24. Not the easiest tap to find, nor a common pilot hole size, but the tool gods have blessed me richly.

Bought one of the current Blues Junior III's in march. Was looking at a hot rod deluxe at first but decided on this. Still plenty loud. Incredibly happy with it. Not as much gain as i expected though but ive got pedals for the rest.

Happy BJr NOS tweed owner here, but one thing I just noticed is that most (but not all) of the knobs seem a little off, like half a number. Now I am wondering if it was always like this and I just never noticed or if it got knocked out of whack somewhere along the way. No functional difference noticed, but it bugs me - anyone else have slightly askew knobs?

I've had my Blues Jr. III for about a year now. Put in a Jensen C-12N and what a great sound. I love her to death . . .

Bought a new III today. Sounds nice, even the uncool solid state reverb!
