Suggest you try one of the new Squier CV thinlines, before you plunk down any money. They're about $350 new, and they compare favorable to the 69 RI.

Be aware, though: the necks are different. Different profile, and the Squier has medium frets (vs. vintage style, on the 69 RI).

highly recommend the 69 thinline tele
prefer it over the 72 thinline as you still got the single coil pickups
harder to find around here (toronto)
get one if you can!

This is my CIJ 69RI, with the nice rich, dark(ish) mahogany body....

Apologies for the poor quality pic - I have some bigger and better ones somewhere...

Light as a feather, full of twang and tone, and a joy to play!

Couldn't recommend one higher, IMHO....

Great guitars. The chambered body adds a touch of strat-like woodiness to the telecaster tone.

Now, this may not be an issue with you...but in case it is I'll mention it.
The bodies on thinlines can vary in weight from 3 to 5 pounds, depending on wood density. Not a big deal overall (even the ones with heavier bodies are comparatively light), but a very light body may result in a guitar where the neck wants to drop when you wear it with a strap. Some folks find that irritating, especially if they play long late gigs. Other players couldn't care less.
Heavier ones are more balanced on the strap, in my experience.
If you think it may be an issue with you it could be a good idea to buy one from a shop where you can try it out, as opposed to ordering one to be delivered.

Thanks for the info but thats not an issue with me as i don`t gig and only play as a hobby. I do like guitars that are light rather then heavy though!

Not sure what you're expecting - you only posted on this thread a few hours ago? Folks generally tend to bump threads that have slipped down (or off) the front page, but there's generally a reason for that happening....

You asked for opinions and you've had some. Be patient! If folks are going to respond they will - in their own good time!..;)

If everybody bumped their own thread we would never get chance to see any new ones!...

Have you considered using the "search" function?

You might want to click on [thread=169689]THIS LINK[/thread] which will take you to the 69 & 72 Thinline Owner's Club - looks like a good place to start!

Hope this helps!

Teleriffic, I've owned one over a year that I sit on the couch and attempt to play. It is the 2 tone tobacco sunburst mahogany '69. Beautiful guitar with excellent neck. I did, however, have to get the output jack replaced at setup. It was very soft and the detent was not correct/solid enough (this was a new 2007 or 08 model). It was replaced with a switchcraft jack. All ok. Very nice sounding model. Hope this helps, Wilson

p.s. got a great deal on it (I thought anyway-- for $651 tax included) at a Mom and Pop music shop and had been hanging on the wall awhile. They were selling at the time on MF and Guitar Center for $940.

Love em. I have a sycamore top and back with a 92 neck and
emgs. It's a pleasure to play great for recording the beefier tones .
Haven't posted pics since I finished ... I should though ..
Have fun .

The '69 Thinline Re-Issue is a great guitar. The neck is extremely comfortable IMHO. I chose to swap out the original 1 meg pots for 250k, as the bridge pickup was way too trebly for my taste. They're light, but I don't find mine to be neck heavy.
