Pure and simple with massive tone.

Really nice - classic looking rig. Assume that's the new one - I'll be interested in hearing from other owners.

Not much going on in this club :)

I just heard back from Fender that the new 2016 '57 Custom Champs are going to have different caps than the 2009 Champs to sound more like the originals.

Any thoughts?

I JUST bought a mint condition 2011 Champ for $750, first major gear purchase in a while and pretty stoked about it.

I thought when they came out with the 57RI it was an accurate electrical replica of the original. Wasn't it?

Picked up one of these a few months ago. Fantastic sounding amp!
I also have a Vox AC10 and Blackstar HT-1r, which are both great, but have been collecting a bit of dust since getting the Champ.

I love my 57 Champ Custom. it sounds great with my 1991 G&L ASAT Classic Signature. Has anyone changed the pre-amp tube? It comes with the 12ay7. I was thinking about going to a 12ax7.

Mine is a clone, but I did the reverse and changed to a 12AY7 as per the 57 Custom. Gives me better control of the volume and if I want the extra crunch of the 12AX7 I can use a clean boost. I'm not sure if the particular 12AY7 I used has made it sound slightly smoother/a bit duller than the 12AX7 that was in it before (I have added the 25uF cap that is fitted to the Custom Champ, but missing on the clones, even though there is a place on the board for it).

It's a cheap enough mod to try and obviously can be reversed easily too. I love my little Champ, though I still find it's too loud for certain places to get it into proper crunch territory.

Yeah I decided to leave it stock with the 12ay7 it sounds sooo damn sweet. I ordered a Klon Centaur clone to use as a clean boost, so I'll let ya know how it goes.
