For as long as I can remember I have used D'Addario XL110's on my Tele's. The other day I was on a forum and someone mentioned the Fender 150's and how good Pure Nickel strings sounded. I put a set on my main Tele and all I can say is Wow! Really like these better. Can't exactly what it is but the overall tone is really nice. Can't wait to try them on my other Tele. Anyone else use these strings?

D'Addario has been making strings for Fender for quite a while now.

Did they come in a pack like this?

Pure Nickel has a warmer sound than nickel wrap and they do sound better to me too at first but seem to die a little quicker than niclel wrap like the D'Addario 110's.

Here are the D'Addario pure Nickel

These are the same strings in that Fender pack.

Yes, that's the pack. The forum I was on when I read about them said that D'Addario was making Fender's strings so I was a little surprised that these were so much cheaper than the D'Addario's. And I do really love the tone.

Hey Guys, I don't mean to hijack here, but looking at the above pics made me think of this.... I've got a few sets of the D'Addario nickels... the same set pictured... I love nickel strings... these were listed as .010 .046.... but as can be seen in the pic they are actually .010 .045.... I guess it's a silly question, but would the slightly lighter wound strings be prone to buzzing in the nut slot, noticable changes in tension on the neck or anything like that?

I'm guessing it won't make much difference at all, but I've been hesitant to install something other than what my guitars are setup for.

Ha! I just put a new set of Fender strings (the first pack I've bought in easily 10 years) one one of my gits and thought "wow, these sound so much better than I remember! Way to go Fender!"

Well, that hasn't been my experience at all, Mark. I got some of the exact ones in your phtot, and I can't wait to get rid of them and go back to the regular XLs. I will most likely even throw the extra set in the trash.

Joe-Bob: You didn't find the pure nickel not as twangy as the nickel wound? I know I sure did and didn't really like 'em. Super Slinky nickel wounds for me.

I liked the darker sound of the pure nickels at first but they seemed to go dead real quick and got too boomy. So I do like the XL's better myself too the pure nickel were great for about 1 hour then they changed tone.

Yeah, I was kinda disappointed, really. Over the years, I've had really good experiences with the regular XLs, and other D'Addario strings too. I've heard lots of claims of better-sounding strings, but along with them I've seen just as many complaints of QC issues and major inconsistencies between sets.

So, I'll just dance with the one that brung me. ;)

Yeah, I'm the same way. I've used Ernie Ball's forEVER, and ended up with a pair of Fender 150s once, and was surprised the find I liked the sound better. I thought I was just imagining it (you know, comparing new strings to old ones), so I immediately put a set of EBs back on, and no, I wasn't imagining it. Probably one of those tiny things, imperceptible to anybody listening, but I'm stuck on the Fender 150s now.

I haven't experienced that rapid tone loss, but I'm fanatic about washing my hands with dish soap before touching my guitars.
