Got a senior flu shot, a Prevnar 13 pneumonia shot, and the first of two shots for shingles today. They got me in both arms so I ain't gonna have a good arm for a day or two. They asked me how I wanted to get the three shots. I said whadda you mean? They said you want to get one now, then another later, then the last one later? I said can I get 'em all at once and they said you betcha! So, that's what I did. I can't get the other shingles shot for a month. My doc has been after me to get the two shot shingles deal, so I decided to go ahead. I have two friends who had shingles that just never went away. One died before he could get over them. I don't want any of that, so I got the shot. I'll get the next one as soon as they'll give it to me.

Yowch! No golf for at least a few days. Good on ya getting those. Shingles sucks. I get it in my right ear from time to time.

I had the old shingles shot a few years back, my wife got the shingles in one leg luckily from about mid thigh down, and fairly mild. They gave her a shot and a prescription because we caught it right away, and she recovered quickly. The doc said, it wasn't contagious but I wasn't buying that I got ME a shingles shot right then. The one I got today is supposed to be a lot more effective.

Oh yeah, it's just waiting, and it's always there if you had chicken pox. The herpes zoster virus (chicken pox) hides out in the nerves and can come out anytime you're immune system is compromised, or in my case often by irritating it with scratchy motorcycle helmet liners, q-tipping my right ear a bit too vigorously, etc...

I know there are a lot of skeptics, but I've been getting a flu shot for years and I seldom ever get sick. If they come out with a vaccine for you know what, I'm gonna be first in line.

I did not know you could get it again, thanks for the info. Also, never put anything smaller than a football in your ear, use your elbow to clean your ear, and you'll be okay! :D

I had my hi-dose flu shot last week, a little early but I sure don’t want to get flu AND anything else at the same time!

I had the Zostavax shot a few years ago; next week I’m going to get the first Shingrix shot.

I’m all for vaccinations as long as they’ been tested for multiple generations

Fun fact of the day, vaccination the word is derived from “cow”

The first vaccine was a cows virus that was a weaker strain of a virus we get

My details are foggy as I did a report for elementary school

Edit: I looked it up, it was cow smallpox

Lol, yep. I try to resist the temptation.

Before I got to a doc who figured out what it was, and that it had settled in my right cranial nerve, I used to get unexplained ear infections several times a year.

I've been planning to get the flu shot in a few days, but you've reminded me I need to check with my doctor about pneumonia and maybe a shingles "booster". I DEFINITELY don't want a case of shingles. :(

I try to just go ahead and take care of things when they show up, otherwise once I start putting it off, it just never happens. Good luck.

Not to gross anyone out, but this is what my case of shingles looks like when it flares up.

I had heard (from an Informed Source) that one of the side-Effects of that shot is to only play through Solid State Amps.
I don't know if I can risk something like that.

    ouch ...need all that myself..:(
just trying to get over an allergy panel done on my back.. 80 holes there and 33 needle punctures in my arms. Had to find out if the cats or my down pillows were suspects of my inability to breath at night.. nope.

shingles are horrible..popping rocks under your skin is all I can compare it too.

    I know your pain.

I scraped my arm last month on some rusty metal, and went in and got a Tetanus shot.
Turns out it was a TDAP shot.
Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis, all in one.
    Hurt like a *****.

Then I had that run-in with the yellow jackets, and got two shots in the left arm, one a steroid and the other a pain thing with anti-inflammatory.

Not much later, I torqued my back, and ended up with two shots in the back-side, more steroids and pain killers.
I'm losing track at this point.

If I never SEE another needle, I will die a happy man.

    :(
