I've been listening to a local Oldies Radio show called "I Like it Like That" for several years now. It comes on every Saturday Night, and every year the DeeJay does a special around Feb 3rd featuring the music of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper. He will be out of town next Saturday so last night was his annual show. I've been a prog and metal head since the day I could stand on two feet and look up at the Pioneer speaker cabs of Dear ole Dad's Quadrophonic system, but both Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens have always held a special place in my heart*. Hearing their tunes last night reminded me yet again how solid and cool they were, and how tragic it was that we lost them. That is all. Here's a big long string of Buddy Holly recordings, the first of which is him at 13 years old. This recording is way better than anything I was squeaking out of a guitar at 13. *the Big Bopper was alright too I guess, but his music doesn't grab me like Holly and Ricardo.
