    Is success equivalent to stardom?
Would curing cancer or any other nerdy science stuff make him a star?
    What is a star anyway?
If you hit the streets and asked people who Jonas Salk is do you think his name would be as recognized as Bruce Springsteen's is?
    Do you like oatmeal?

Please, simply another OPINION written as if it was fact....it's not fact, it's OPINION and you know what they say about opinions....a lot of people, including those at A&M Records thought Nils had the goods, he had the looks, songs and was a killer player and put on a great show, but....it is, I am convinced, a matter of luck....another name that comes to mind is that of Graham Parker, I thought for sure he was going to be a big but....another one....and as we see, there are many many more....but the truth is that only so many will become the next Springsteen or whomever, there can only be so many BIG stars....so what is it down to....nobody knows....all we have is opinions...imho....

Just saw him again last month, with Los Straitjackets. Great show. Among other things, his voice has held up amazingly well for all those years.

I had no idea anyone else had ever heard of these guys; I was working for their label when that album came out. Not sure I’d have pegged them for stardom, but that is a pretty fun tune.

Well, maybe somebody at A&M didn’t do their job . That was back in the era when A&R And promotions people could seriously help break an artist.

And if Nils really had the songs , Put up half a dozen that are as good as six or 10 mid-level Bruce Springsteen or Tom Petty songs.

That stuff didn’t exist in a vacuum and every single one of those guys competed for airplay and sales with each other.

So you like Nils Lofgren. So do I . He’s a great guitar player and a whole bunch of people that I respect like him as a musician too.

Add To that all the factual things that he’s accomplished and the fact that he’s been in Bruce’s band over 30 years and the fact that he was super young when he played with Neil Young and even the small fact that you can run across a Grin record in a used record store and that’s a million times more success than the average mook on this forum and outside this forum will ever achieve.

In a perfect world, singer/songwriter Paul Thorn would be a household name.
