Los Lobos have a lot of recordings like that.

They also have a lot that are not like that.

    They're all good.

Duane Eddy, Honky Tonk, actually it sounds like it was recorded in a whorehouse.

The Allman Bros. Duane era albums were all recorded live in the studio.

This album sounds exactly like the beer and cigarette stained sweat box out in Hollywood that it was probably recorded in.

It's outside so.....a BIG room. Easily from one of the best live Rock n Roll albums ever recorded and my favorite version.

I am surprised nobody has mentioned Exile On Main Street. Quintessential Stones album recorded at Keith's south of France estate, amongst other places, in '69-71.

To me that is still live. For me, it is not live when you make a scratch track and overdub all the parts in seperately.

...and incredibly recorded with a single microphone.
Possibly the best version of "Sweet Jane" ever recorded, I love the original...but this one IMO is the best.

Partially true- the mic was a Calrec Soundfield, which contains four mic capsules.

    Still impressive, though.

As I understand it, Springsteen's 'The River' album was pretty much all done with the whole band playing together in a high school gymnasium.
