These Hiero-affiliated guys are gonna be here soon, 30 year anniversary of the record. Del gets a shout-out at the end.
I called Missy a rapper once in front of my wife (who is a huge rap fan, but also a huge Missy fan) and she quickly corrected me that Missy is an R&B artist, not a rapper.Missy!
+1 on Funkdoobiest. That whole Soul Assassins scene was incredible.Love the stuff. But not on a daily basis anymore. Here are my favorites:
Black Moon
House of Pain
Leaders of the new school
Cypress Hill
Funkdoobiest
I covered my opinion on him. Marshall Mathers LP is when I probably started listening to whole albums, whereas it was just songs off slim shady lp or whatever the first one was (probably off Napster/scour/Kazaa, it was thr way then). The Eminem Show was great.... until everyone was listening to him all the sudden. Everything after I never connected with. What? No love for Slim Shady?I admit I don't care for most rap, but there has been some that I liked. I guess. KRS One comes to mind.
my favorite by digable planets:I'm always surprised when these Rap/Hip Hop appreciation threads show up that Digable Planets don't get mentioned. Witty, smart, proud and talented. Someone definitely flipped thru dad's jazz and soul records for things to sample - big bonus...
