Part of what has gotten me a kick in the behind to start playing finally was discovering some of the great guitar instrumental work being done by bands like Animals as Leaders & Scale The Summit.

Which makes me curious (and I figure I can get a nice WIDE range of answers  ) what other people's favorite instrumental pieces are. I'll offer this up as a way to start things off.

"Favorite instrumental pieces." I'm glad you put that in the plural. I always have a hard time narrowing things down to just one.

I'm going to date myself here, listing instrumentals that were influential to me back in the days before and just after I took up the guitar.

Link Wray's "Rumble" changed the sound of Rock n Roll.

    Beat me to it.
Haunting, eloquent, memorable, evocative, and so beautifully simple!

Cluster One gets me - it sets the tone for the whole ablum.

Switch 625 is cool. Kind of a breakout from Heartbreak.

I love classical - I am not going to go down that rabbit hole for this thread.

Among the boatloads of good instrumental rythmic music from especially the fusion scene of the 70s and 80s I would find a hard time picking one or a few as favourites. My all time guitar instrumental favourite - although a bit earlier - is this:

Anything by Shawn Lane. Probably different stuff than most of you are used to.
