I have a straw hat I got about 28 years ago. It was made somewhere in Central America. It's a "hat" hat.

If you're counting "caps" as "hats," then my New York Yankee baseball cap. Even thought it is one of those one-size-fits-all caps, with the open part in the back, the visor is curved sufficiently to keep the sun out of my eyes while driving.

I also have other Yankee caps, all worn and sweaty. I have a white one with pinstripes and a navy visor, like the Yankees wore in 1920, but with my gray hair, I look old enough to have been on the team when they wore that cap. But it is a fitted cap.

I have another fitted cap that came with the flat visor like Jobe Chamberlain wore (when he was fighting the gnats), but it doesn't keep the sun out of my eyes very well.

My favourite (still haven't found a pic) is my green pork pie. Rabbit fur felt. I've had it for 25 years, so Walter White is a copycat. Between Breaking Bad (which I have never seen) and the "middle-aged blooz guy" trope, I find it a struggle to wear it as much as I would like. I also have a Greek fisherman's cap that Mrs. German brought back from Greece for me, and I find that guys who look like George R. R. Martin have kind of ruined that for me.

Hats give me hat head, so I don't wear them unless I have to.

Mostly I wear goofy hospital hats so my ears don't get sore from the masks.

The masks attach to buttons sewn onto the hats.

If I wear a hat it is usually a ballcap. But, I found this Fjallraven wide brimmed hat that I wear kayaking. It is pretty great to keep the sun off.

I have a lighter shade they don't seem to make anymore. I lost my first one, when we were trying to launch my kayak and a wave dumped it and me. I ordered another before the day was out. It just fits great and is nice and light and looks pretty decent for what it is.

The leather cowboy hat in my avatar. Been wearing it every day for about 6 or 7 years. Still in great shape.

Oh, so many hats...I have a tweed crusher that I bought in Oxford (UK) years ago (can't be in the tweediest place on Earth without getting some tweed!); that gets worn a lot. Also a Filson Wildfowl hat. And a Scottish tweed flat cap from JJ Hat Center in NYC that's about 30 years old now.

In summer I wear a Borsalino Panama hat, medium brim, and various ball caps - many of which bear the logo of the winery I work at - including my prized Brooklyn Cyclones cap that often is confused for a Red Sox cap.

And then there are all the Tilleys: a T3, a T4, a TH5 hemp hat, a TWC5 in waxed cotton, a Winter Hat... I may have a problem.

I forgot about this one. 880DD390-7ACC-4F79-A54D-BA2053223A43.jpeg Been hanging in the back of the closet for a couple decades.
Some 25+ years ago, I just about wore this one out. Probably more scarce than a Blond 58’ Tele.
It was promoting the short lived “CBS Evening News with Dan Rather and Connie Chung” fiasco.

If "none" was a choice, I'd choose it. The occasional baseball cap is it for me

Lots of ballcaps up in this here thread. I've got a bunch of 'em, too. Some I've retired, still have a half dozen or more still in service. My favorite ballcap is my camo Logan Custom Guitar cap. I wear a ball cap if the winds are much over 20 mph, or when I go out walking in the evening.

But my favorite hat is my Stetson Sturgis crushable wool hat.

I haven't worn a hat in probably 55 years. The funny thing is when I first learned to water-ski I had an obsession with this one straw hat that I had, and I used to wear it when water skiing. I keep trying to wear a ball cap or a floppy hiking hat, but I just feel weird in them. I blame me, not the hat.

Nice cap! My paternal grandfather, who died in 1966 at 88, wore one of those. I'm not a hat guy but do wear a straw hat in hot weather and when fishing. Lately, I've been thinking about getting one like yours for winter wear.
