Don't mean to be a wet blanket...

Dweezil Zappa seems to like to do guitar duels in his live shows. He's a great player and whoever is onstage with him is undoubtedly a great player yet I find these things incredibly boring. His dad did one with Steve Vai on "Stevie's Spanking" and I don't find that one all that entertaining either in spite of being a big FZ guitar fan.

    {"The End"} by the Beatles.

I don't think of that as a guitar duel (or truel cuz there was three of em). I think of that as a composition where they played solos in identifiably different styles one after the other.

To me call and response and playing off of each other are some of the most exciting aspects of people playing music in a room together. I can see how it wouldn't appeal to everyone as it can trend towards self indulgence. To each his/her own.

I don't know if it makes any sense, but I'd be more entertained by REGULAR FOLKS doing that down at the corner bar than a couple of already-so-amazing-I-can't-even-conceive-one-tenth-of-what-they-are-doing virtuosi.

A little bit goes a long way. 1 minute for a guitar duel I could probably take. 5 minutes, I'm off to the men's room.

Well, this is a friendly duel, if it's a duel at all. Always liked these guys.

Gotta love a Southern Rock band's take on a Santana type song!

    RIP JR Cobb.

Not so much a duel as a fun partnership these guys are one of the best bands in Canada and I've seen them do this live a bunch of times and it's always impressive (this was the only video of it I could find)... they're even better when soloing on their own though...

Start at 2:50 or a little before.
