interseting link posted smoss. its a shame though, that at the end of the day billy cant just pick up a guitar and play like he did in the gish/siamese dream years. he comes across as being very pretentious

Nothing says you have to like the guitar player personally to be inspired by his music. Billy Corgan is a toolbag, but that hasn't inhibited his ability to write some great music. There are a lot of talented numskulls out there. Hollywood, anyone?

And don't even get me started on the People's Champion - Yngwie!

For Black Keys, I wouldn't go Devi Ever. Find something that recreates the Green Russian Muff sound. That's the main Fuzz Dan seems to be using lately. Check out the Earth Quake Devices Hoof, or something from Stomp Under Foot.

Really loving the EQD Hoof. Yeah it does muff sounds, but also can sound like a bender sometimes, or a really thick, dark Ge Fuzz Face. Oddly enough it's also extremely usable in live mixes where other fuzzes are very hard to dial in so they don't disappear.

    Yeah, I love it.

Slightly OT, Just Nick your demos are great. Your demo of the EQD Speaker Cranker was the deciding factor in picking 1 up.

Hey, thanks! I'm glad they are useful. How's the Speaker Cranker working out?

Pretty good. Still moving it around, trying to find a better place for it. It's the 2nd dirt pedal on a small board (Other is a CB WIIO).

Depends what type of tone i am going for, but my Tele loves a Big Muff, Wattson Classic, DbA Fuzz War, Throbak Stone Bender, EHX Russian Muff, and a few others.

Come to think about it, Teles LOVE FUZZ !!!

Very true. The pumpkins will probably always be my favorite band. Just wish he was a bit more respectable of a guy on a personal level.

I used to use Muffs & Fuzz Faces with my Tele but they just seemed sorta of blah for what I was looking for. Too woofy, or spongy.

Recently I picked up a Wattson FY-2 Fuzz which is an amazing clone of the old Shin Ei Companion Fuzz. This thing spits, snarls, and nails any spaghetti western/Biker film tone I can throw at it.

In fact, it makes my Wattson FY-2 SuperFuzz seem tame in comparison.
