Here are some of my favorite musical works from films. Have any film composers influenced you musically? how so?

+1 on Morricone. I love the atmosphere of the spaghetti western stuff, and he's done a lot of other styles very well as well. I like Phillip Glass but probably more of his non-soundtrack work (Akhnaten is superb). I like Jeremy Soule but I'm more familiar with his gaming soundtracks than film. I also like this one - great film, nice soundtrack, very much of it's time.

    Danny Elfman.

Hes done so much that I'm certain his movie and TV soundtrack stuff from the early to mid 90s soaked in.

Also, my 2 youngest kids watched Nightmare Before Christmas so much that it corrupted my brain.

I love Alan Silvestri's work on the Back To The Future trilogy. I think he did Predator 1 & 2, What Lies Beneath and Roger Rabbit. Clever guy.

I think Morricone music in Leone films is pretty unbeatable, so i will post something else that i love so much.

This was my first exposure to classical music. Some of it's scary!

And ive been listening to this a lot lately. Bit of a Bowie sampler, but it's thoughtfully put together and the film had such a huge effect on me.

Too many really to list, I know I'll leave out dozens.....but
Jean-Michel Jarre.....many films, with Gallipoli in particular
Mark Knopfler......Local Hero, Comfort and Joy
    Bernard Hermann......bunch of Hitchcock films
    Vangelis......Chariots of Fire and others
Henry Mancini.......mentioned by BrookedaleBill above (especially the Pink Panther films)
Albinoni.....Adagio in G (used by MANY films, including at least one porn film I saw in the seventies)
.....and I could go on and on, but I'm gonna stop now. ;)
But I can't leave out John Williams......many films but especially Jaws!

Then there are classical compositions that have been used but that's not the question so I won't include them.

    Erich Korngold.

Mancini, Williams, etc., all take their hats off (esp. if they're not dead) when Korngold is mentioned. If you've seen any of the Errol Flynn movies (Robin Hood, Sea Hawks, etc., etc.), you've been watching to a Korngold score.
