Wonderful cover of a wonderful Richard Thompson song who was the songwriter and guitarist for the English band Fairport Convention.


Also really love the Del McCoury Band bluegrass cover. Del looks like every barber my dad drug me off to when I was a Tike and getting a bit shaggy.

And just about everything Rosanne Cash has done for the last three decades and counting. Not much of it is country, at least in the confines of what makes the charts. But it is stunning music.

After hearing this song many times I just noticed the first verse(!):
"It's a big job gettin' by with nine kids and a wife"

Well, whose fault is that? lol He's definitely working at something ; ) But to his credit he manned up and took care of them all. Yes he did, that fictional guy in the song...Wait, just looked it up and Merle had six kids, so maybe it is about him and he just sang the "6" upside down. And five wives?--now that's workin'
