I know they all can be made to do a passable rotating sound. But, any standouts?

I haven't tried a ton of chorus pedals, but the light purple Ibanez (can't recall the name) with the Fromel mods does a pretty nice job. I modded one of the reissues myself so it was still well under $100. The mods changed the speed ranges and brought out some swirl.

BBE had a combo tremolo and chorus pedal, too, that wasn't bad at getting a bit of a Leslie sound either.

I have a Leslie 16 (same as the Fender badged version from the late '60s) so I actually have something to compare them to. Neither one nails it, but for some stuff they can get close enough in a live band situation.

Motion Sound R3-147. Best leslie sim on the market. New or used.

For a chorus pedal, it's hard to beat a univibe.

Boss CE2w on Vibe setting Rate and Depth both at 12:30 on Dial. Accidentally discovered this last night and here you are asking... how cool is that?

My instant "thought" when I pushed switch accidentally too far onto vibe setting was SRV Cold Shot. It made me wonder if this what he actually used.

As far as I know, he and Jimmie used a Vibratone on that album.

I use a Trutone/Visual Sound H2Ov3, the newest model. Super happy with it as a faux Leslie. And a nice basic delay too, with the best buffer in the business.

The Keeley Dyno My Roto, in addition to Tri-Chorus and Roto-Flange modes, has a dedicated Leslie replication mode that is pretty great.

while I haven't used one in years, the Arion SCH-1 did the job better than many other pedals of the day. I also had a late 80's, early 90's Yamaha pedal that was acceptable.

You want decent Leslie, and adjustable?

You want inexpensive?

You want something so simple that it almost seems impossible?

Does your amp have Trem? If so, set that at the speed you want, and then use a cheap Trem PEDAL and adjust that to augment. Holy Freaking Christ and Voila--you got real Leslie.

A member here posted this discovery last week, and I'm amazed at the results I've gotten so far with just minor exploration into dialing it in right.

If your amp doesn't have Trem, I gotta assume two cheap Trem pedals will give the same results (like the cheap Behringer I have), but I can't say for sure.

All I know is that Leslie/B3/etc. EHX pedals are a FORTUNE, and this Trem Trick can get you 85% of the way there for chump change.

The old standard Boss tremolo was always my favorite, but I couldn't adjust the rate on the fly to ramp up and down. I bet an amp trem with the boss trem at 2 different speeds would be amazing...something that I have never tried.

The harmonic trem on the Strymon flint is the closest thing I have found that gets me close to the Leslie sound in my head with ramp capabilities. Though not inexpensive, the reverbs are worth the money alone.

I really didn't consider the importance of changing speeds on the fly, which I guess is really important. Hell, I was just blown away by the effect.

Leslie to me, in the 60s and 70s, had nothing to do with guitar anyway 99% of the time. It was a keyboard tool, and what a tool.

These days, anything goes.

This was discontinued long ago. Used prices--$500 and up.

And it's a huge rack mounted unit.

For this kind of change, wouldn't an actual rotary make more sense?
Through my pair of 485 watt 1970 Fender 400 PS tube amp heads, and their custom 3x12 column cabs, it's an even more consuming effect than a pair of leslie 122's. Much more adjustable for speed, ramp, tone, breakup, volume, and mix too.

Also a lot easier to store a rack unit than a full size leslie or vibratone. Lot louder and deeper sounding too. Clearer even.

It was just me talking about real leslie Sims.

A pair of trem pedals will get you 90% of the way there. A pair of tremolo/vibrato pedals will get you 95% of the way there, for guitar.

I have a Boss RT20 that my keyboard player gave me as it didn't really have any useable sounds for him, its not bad for guitar and it has a cool rotating light that speeds up as the Leslie effect speeds up. I don't use much as its a bit big. Did I mention its got a cool light?

Moen Shaky Jimi on the chorus setting is my favourite. I sold my grey box Arion SCH-1 (for a small fortune) because the Moen sounded better to me for Leslie sounds.

I had luck in the past with an Option 5 Destination Phaser. Phases will work, they just have to go very fast.

I honestly shoot for the Vibratone/SRV Cold Shot tone. I like that better than the Leslie tone personally, and it's easier to get with a pedal IMO.

Ibanez SC-10.

Sold it when I moved. Missing that sound though. It's really good at the Police sound, but also really good at Leslie-ish.

Also, the VFE Enterprise Phaser, sounds leslie enough to keep me from buying a Strymon Lex!

Is there a Maxon equivalent?
