You know who had the best idea for a rock band name?
Crosby, Stills & Nash.
No Oxford comma after Stills.
Too bad the old house was torn down between the time of the album cover photo and the naming of the group. It was Nash, Stills & Crosby on the album cover.

(Unable to find a copyable album cover photo.)

AC/DC
Pink Floyd
Def Leppard, Megadeth -- ridiculous, +1
INXS -- modern, clever
Blondie, Stray Cats -- ok
Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer -- yep that works

best name ever: Steely Dan

I’ve not read every page so this may not be unique, but……

in the 1970s , as a bottom of the bill band desperate for a name check, my band changed our name to Plus Support.

I had a band called Loose Livestock.
I came up with the name.
A couple came up to me on a break and told me when they saw the name on the marquee, they had to come in to hear us.
It was a great band, with two really good singers.
I wasn’t one of em’.;)

A recording project, though, not actually a band.
