Hi, I’m thinking about going to a nail salon and getting fake nails on my middle and ring fingers. Please share your thoughts pro and con. Thanks

I have done it for about twenty years and wrote up a page about the process, HERE.

I have no problem growing them but my friends think it looks weird having long nails on one hand and short on the other.

I do it all the time- acrylic brush-ons- I hybrid pick. If I don't, my nails are gone in an hour or so on stage. These were grown out and ready for a filling.

I tried lacquers, clear polish, even CA. It would be fine for a day or two, then got worse that it was before. For me, au natural works best. YMMV.

Don't know what to say......my ex-wife wore them, and for four or five years after she moved out I was STILL finding them all around the house, in corners and under furniture. Must not have stuck on very well.....and she didn't play guitar.

Since I went through chemo my middle fingernail still grows out pretty well, but the ring fingernail always splits and breaks. I never know if I'll have it for guitar playing.

My day job is very rough on the hands, so they would not last. Maybe when I retire I can give it a try. Until then I'll just fingerpick with my finger tips.

The worst thing that can happen is, they don't work and you won't do it again.

James Taylor swears by them - he also says that his nails would be gone in one nights' performance if he didn't use stick-ons.
