meh... skinny *ss tone.
I think the "skinny" comes from the Affinity and the, presumed, Special Edition speaker that Fender is notorious for putting in their less pricey amps.
I've had the pleasure of ripping out a few or bypassing them with the speaker-out to my own cab on some of my other modelers.
The Affinity is what it is. Put some CS pups in there and you can maybe make it up to CV grade
Some people like those ceramics. It sounds pretty good in this vid frankly. Definitely a Katona vib there. A little too much tweaking for my tastes. Why I like my Superchamp X2 (thru my cab)
fair, fair. still...
I don't think you can make that argument here. This is about modelers not the real thing. Doesn't apply. Different forum altogether.
how is the vox vt series not a modeling amp?!?
I played bass in a band for several years, had a lovely American PBass plugged in to an Ampeg PF800 (800 watts) bass amp with a class D power stage driving a GK410 NEO cab. That rig is loud, huge and pristine.
There may be issues affecting modeling amps that result in a lack of "girth" but the choice of a class D amp for the power section is probably not one of them.
