Quick: what's the movie that has a scene with Michael Fassbender on the roof of a suburban house that he broke into?

My wife and I tried Vegemite on toast this morning. Phew! I was not prepared for that. Literally, I didn't know such a taste existed.

Q1: I have no idea what you are talking about.

Comment2: my grandmother used to make vegex (similar to vegemite) and watercress sandwiches. Definitely an acquired taste.....

Vegemite is a staple here. Just don't use too much.

Vegemite is horrible stuff, unless it's spread thin under melted cheese on toast.

You put too much on it. Think of it as butter, not peanut butter, although you can put butter under it if you want.

Marmite! Lovely stuff. Try it with cheese. It won't spread if you keep it in the fridge though.

If you have a jar of vegemite in the house you may, at some point, be tempted to use it in a bedroom context like you might use whipped cream or chocolate.

I would strongly recommend against this, even for those of you with Australian lovers.

Try thinly spreading Vegemite onto the cheese before making grilled cheese on toast - gives it a nice bite to each bite. Vegemite soup is also a good one when doing a colonoscopy prep, just dissolve a spoonful of Vegemite in hot water, size of spoon is up to you.

Back to question #1: Assassins Creed? That’s the only movie I remember he was in and I didn’t see it.

Is Vegemite similar to Marmite? I was raised on Marmite so never felt the slightest need to try Vegemite. All boxes ticked by Marmite...

Flavour is just salty really, isn't it? Maybe a bit umami too, but not really that complex. Mostly just salt.

Side note: currently spending at least 400% more for Marmite as an expat in California :(

Update: I just bought 2kg (4.4lbs) of Marmite on Amazon for $55. That's about $14 a jar. In Britain it costs about five pounds for the same size container. The exchange rate is 1.3 right now. So I paid a little over twice the UK price for my Marmite today.

    Happy to do it.
