So, here’s an example.
mozart - lead guitar
federic Chopin - keys
beethoven, keys
J S Bach - bass
richard Wagner - drums.

Suggestions - must be musicians. (But having sports guys, say, who play in real life, as an example, works)
M ust be credible. None of the above played the instruments assigned, but Bach on bass? Hell yeah. Mozart on a strat? Sign me up. Etc ;
s
interesting yet complex idea

Mine would basically be Tony Williams Lifetime, but I'd be running the band, writing, singing, trying to keep up on guitar, and channeling it toward rock.

And it could be either Lifetime:

John Mclaughlin
Larry Young
Jack Bruce (I'd let him sing some...)
Tony Williams

This would be a 70s King Crimson style rock/fusion group.

Steel yourself (no Jack Bruce on this one):

or

Allan Holdsworth
Alan Pasqua
Tony Newton
Tony Williams

This would be a Steely Dan-ish jazz/rock group.

Ella Fitzgerald vocals
Nat King Cole vocals and keys
Barney Kessel on guitar
Ray Brown on bass
Levon Helm on drums
Excellent choices, but I think the highly esteemed Levon might be a disqualified for being classified as an actual rock musician from some of the work he has done.
May I suggest from the same era as the others, Sammy Davis Junior on drums, vocals, and entertainment, as replacement for this otherwise, near perfect selection.
