Apparently there will be a film.

Idris Elba will star as Roland and Matthew McConaughey as the dark man.

    I'm in.

I just hope they do it right. Those books were fantastic. What a saga.

Hmmm.... Big fan of the series. Read the books a couple of times, but wonder how some of the events in the books would translate to today's culture. Lots of racial/sexual themes that I don't think would fly today. It would definitely take a lot of rewriting I believe. Hopefully king would stay out of it so they wouldn't have to be precious with the material. Hopefully they would dispense with all of the overly meta themes in the last couple of books, with Stephen king and his accident. In fact I never liked the ending, I thought it was a cop out after all those books to blow the ending. But Stephen king is far too well know for "deus a machina" endings.

I wish, but hold out little hope, the the movie will be good. Too much material to condense into 2 hours.

    There's technically 8 books.

    And some comic books.

The 8th one was created after the story was finished, and is set between books 4 & 5.

Huge DT fan, I've been watching this DT movie thing develop for a couple years now. Looks like the movie will be set in a modern time/place. Which means the material will come from Drawing of the Three or Wastelands.

This movie needs to start with the first line of the first book, like King claims in the article. However, that line doesn't fit into books 2 or 3 at all.

I sure hope they do these books justice. The worst thing they could do is mess it up so bad, that they aren't allowed to finish the story.

I agree, the 11/22/63 adaptation is pretty awful, they better respect Roland! If not he'll push his 6 shooter through a book and snarl "you've forgotten the face of your fathers!"
