    John Fahey was born here

    Danny Gatton lived here

There’s a couple more but I’d have to think

My dad told me that he used to play around Newark all the time

Wish I was alive in those times

The late Lobby Loyde, a Queensland country boy from Longreach, Australia.
Made a name for himself in Brisbane before moving to Melbourne.
Played with the Aztecs, Coloured Balls and a few other groups. Good down to earth blues rocker.

Buddy Emmons learned lap steel in my current town and played at the Silver Dollar Saloon

    which is, sadly, boarded up

Back in the 60's Randy Bachman, Neil Young and Lenny Breau kept our city on it's toes. The latter two were not born here, but their musical journey's came of age on the Winnipeg scene. There have been many great players since, but not to that status.

Today we lay claim to Joey Landreth (Bros Landreth) ... an extremely talented young player with the vocal skills to match.

    Cool.
The family moved to Tacoma sometime in the late 60's, when Robert would have been a teenager. He was such an Icon in this area I think we should be able to claim him ;)

I actually got the opportunity to meet and hang out with him shortly after the Smokin' Gun album came out...he was just a down to earth guy.

You missed Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. They came from Carle Place in Nassau County, about 10 miles from my childhood home in Queens Village, NY.

Also Walter Moorman, who played with Dave LaRue.

That's true. Mostly at the Deer Park Tavern, where they say Poe used to hang out.

I got some new music to check out now :).. lots of names from down under to scout. We dont get too much in the USA from the aussies unless its top 40 FM play we had 20 years ago. Now we get lots of EDM from em.

how about Sleepy Jackson? (Lucas Steel)
you would never recognize him without his make up
