We don't have states in the UK. But as the whole of the UK is about a third of the size of the state of Texas, I'll use the whole of the UK to start my list.

    Eric Clapton
    Jimmy Page
    Jeff Beck
    Peter Green
    Keith Richards
    Mick Taylor
    David Gilmour
    Pete Townshend
    Paul Kossoff...

and that's just the start of the 60s!

Johnny Hiland from Maine. We also like to claim Lenny Breau, but Canada has a great argument for him too.

My state Queensland is 2.5 times the size of Texas ... not as many famous guitar players though,,,

two guys you've probably heard of who spent their teen years here and did their early guitar playing here are Ed Keupper and Keith Urban ..

UK for the win in a blowout!

Colorado? Not exactly a hotbed of musical talent. Hey, we have nice mountains!

You also had my favorite surf band, The Astronauts.

"States" in the UK would be England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. If we just did "England" the list would be nuts--some of which we've already seen. I'd personally add Dave Davies, Steve Marriott and George Harrison.

What would be a fair contribution to this dicussion and interesting are the lists from Wales, Scotland and NI. A few come to mind but I'm not from any of those places--and I only live here as I from Michigan, so Ted Nugent is my contribution.

Compare the UK to the US as a whole and see how it comes out. I'd still go with the UK, because my two favorite guitarists (Page and Richards) are both from there, and there are soooooo many more British/English (whichever is correct?) guitarists who I love.

Google says Stephen Stills was born in Dallas, TX.
I realize that Texas is a LARGE state, but I bet if you could list the number of famous guitarists PER CAPITA, Texas would have far more than any other state......maybe even all others combined.
    No idea why......just is. ;)
