    Excellent band. Thompson is one of the main guys who inspired me to pick up the electric after years of playing only acoustic.

    As it was the first version of the band I ever heard, I'm quite fond of the period from 1985-??? with Martin Allcock (who passed away a year or two ago sadly).



    Here's one of his originals that I think is great.

    Love this record, love Sandy, love Richard.

    I think Liege & Lief was their first album with Dave Mattacks on drums, after Martin died. Also the first album with Swarbrick as a full member.

    Pretty extraordinary to release three killer albums in one year, despite the band suffering a tragic road traffic accident. They don't make bands like Fairport any more.

    After Ashley & Sandy left FC, RT became the primary focus of Fairport then he left for his own solo career. :cool:
