My parents live about 10 minutes east of Paso Robles, and we go to a couple wineries (that you would know) and buy cases of wine where someone ordered a private label then refused to pay, and the bottles might be three dollars apiece - I just ignore the text on the label, and drink the wine.

I met with a guy once who was selling a black late '80's AM STD Strat that was mislabelled - it had 'Telecaster' next to the Fender logo where the word 'Stratocaster' should have been. It was bone stock and there was nothing dodgy looking about it. He said he was the original owner and had bought it that way.

I used to work for a major vegetable canning company and there were myriad checks throughout the process, yet sometimes cans labeled as carrots got out with green bean labels, and such.
It wasn't dangerous to the consumer but a BFD to the corporate office and the USDA.
Sometimes new employees just don't understand the product line of their employer.

^ Isn't this weird? This post is by xafinity, but it has Torz Johnson's avatar and user name on it. How do things like this happen? It makes my brain hurt.

Kind of OT, but big companies aren't always so smart:

When Chevy introduced the Nova in the states, it sold like wildfire. Amazing auto success story.

So when they offered it in Mexico and other Latin American countries, they couldn't give the damn thing away. It made no sense.

Well, in Spanish, Nova translates as "No va."

    Meaning, "It doesn't go."

Great story, huh? I got a bunch like this. Having worked in advertising, I love stories about marketing, whether flops or successes.

    Funny.

When I run this "story" by someone I know who was born in Cuba, in Columbia, in Argentina, in Puerto Rico, they squint at me. Different accents and manners of speech, and they admittedly do sometimes speak to one another in English instead, but they don't embrace this 'no va' thing. No Va means Northern Virginia these days, and that's what really matters I think.

Of course, it's possible. Especially when they share the same production line. Although it's probably more than a fluke.[IMG]

To those who travel a lot, sure.

I'd like to explain why, but we can't discuss stuff like this on this forum.

    I'll check it out!

Can you research the adding an egg to Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines (can't remember which) Duncan Hines cake mix in the 50s?

    I've seen this one:

    It's worth a fortune, right?
