When I got to the age of 18, I realised that I was not going to stop that facial hair from growing by shaving every day...for the rest of my life. Worse still, I would waste about 4,000 hours of my life in this pointless exercise of shaving. So I threw the razor out of the window, and I've never looked back. Now I shave just a fraction of my face, once a week.....and the beard gets the 'number 2' treatment once every couple of months, and life is beautiful.

They say that the lazy people always find the easy way...........

After I retired from the Army, I went with a mustache/goatee (more of a Van Dyke, really). When I look at pictures from back when I was clean shaven, I think that dude looks silly.

I actually don’t shave at all most days.

And my face hasn’t felt this good since before high school.

Fresh faces look best uncovered, IMO.
Those of us with stale faces need creative coverups, IMO.
Now I’ll tKe my opinions, and $5, and see if I can get a good cup of coffee.
Odds are in my favor.

After 4 weeks or so beard starts feeling like I'm wearing a steel wool mask so I trim it back to about 3/16"
with a Wahl clipper.

Just shaved today. Do it about once a week when it starts getting itchy.

Never could grow a full, thick beard. Now it would be all grey.

Cheers,
Geoff

Facial hair is a trendy thing for the majority. Keep up with Jones', maybe?
It could be lazy people that don't like to bathe, either or those that think a shaven look is plain, or boring.

Much of this has to do with how we see ourselves.

I was clean shaven all my young life, and then, while deployed to Operation Desert Shield/Storm, my platoon had a 'mustache growing contest'.

It was a bit of a lark, but something to engage our minds while traveling, packing, unpacking, and making preparations for the liberation of Kuwait.

Lt Arthur Powell won the actual contest a few weeks into it, and so most of the mustaches were summarily shaven off.

Mine stayed.

;)
When I was about twenty four me and a couple friends had a beard growing contest. I won after three months but kept mine some thirty years before shaving it but kept the mustache. I grew a goatee or beard back not much later and tend to keep one or the other.
