IBTL One of the first place authorities go in times of need is social media to gather info. I realize everything might not be as read on the surface.

I divorced facefook over 3 years ago. And it wasn't easy to disconnect; what an ordeal. That alone convinced me I was doing the right thing.

I set up an account over ten years ago, never did any type of updating or anything and I still get email notices from people I'm "friends" with and friendly requests from people I KNOW they don't want to be friends with me...

I have to use FB to promote my business. I advertise/list my work and network with other like minded artists. It's been quite profitable!

I's exactly like going out front and hollering with a megaphone and inviting everyone in to have a look.

The trick to FB AND the internet in general is act like it's 100% public. For more secure minded things like banking there's simple ways to protect yourself.

If you think FB is the ONLY one doing this.....There's this bridge for sale....cheap..

FB is nothing. Google/Bing and Twitter are the real danger.

I rage quit last October when someone hacked my account and sent spam out through Messenger in my name. Don't miss it a bit.

I disagree. Facebook has overtaken them in the sleaze and evil categories!

I have a FB account that was setup by a friend for my business. I never did anything about it and never will
Maybe George Orwell was thinking of FB or just warning us if it

Facebook and Google exist to harvest your personal info then sell it. (How do you think they make money?) If a software product is free, YOU are the product. There's 25+ Google trackers on this site. (Use a blocker then enjoy.)

It is a way I keep in touch with some friends.
Otherwise, it makes me insane with their policies.

If you're using Firefox, it has a built-in option called Facebook Container you can turn on which limits the places Facebook can follow you on the web. Get it. Use it.

A cool feature is that, once installed, it alerts you when you're on a website that it is blocking Facebook from tracking your presence and activity on. It is both amazing and ridiculous all the places Facebook was following me around to before I turned this tool on.

As for a search engine: Duck-Duck-Go.
