    I am making military-design inspired bass and guitar in this thread;
    https://www.tdpri.com/threads/military-design-inspired-bass-guitar.1070050/

Before came up with these body construction idea, I've went through some failed prototypes. One of the failed ones was an Explorer style guitar. I decided to resurrect the body by applying the same basic design approach.
Here is some mock-up pictures. What do you think?

Stupid question is, is it okay to export the M16 carry handle to any countries?

    I like the handle!

The overall aesthetic isn’t for me

I’d look into it but I can’t see the handle being a problem

If it doesn’t bare a serial number or isn’t a main part/part of the firing mechanism it should be fine

Don’t take my word on it (this is not advice this is hypothetical)

I like the side trim, I assume aluminum? Looks cool. The Explorer style is a good matchup for your design. Good luck.

I like it a lot. I like your original design more, but this is still incredibly cool.

    Neat!

Just needs a front sight on the headstock now.

Pretty cool. I don’t think the handle is an issue from a weaponry standpoint. If it were an upper/lower receiver or barrel, I’d maybe rethink the design.

What’s the inspiration behind the military influence? Personal military history?

Sell the design to Schecter. They’ll call it the Warlocks Weapon, paint it camo and sell thousands.

I'm not sure this is a stupid question.

I did a quick search and found a carry handle assembly for sale with the note: "Gun Parts totaling $100 or more may not be shipped outside the United States without proper export licensing."

A few hits on some forums came up but folks seem to get confused with import vs. export regulations on those.

There is also the labyrinth of laws in the destination countries to consider.

This is not something I know anything about but it seems like caution would be advisable. Perhaps it would be wise to mock up the handle with something that simulates the real thing. For example, you probably don't need a real working sight assembly on it to get the idea across.

I think it's disgusting. If that was the only guitar available to me I would quit playing.

I'd go with a Schaller 3D-6 bridge in black.

Why put such a cheap looking generic bridge on such a guitar?

It's great as long as you paint a flower design on it.

    Peace and love.

I have this bridge on one of my guitars. What is the purpose of the large flat headed screw on the right hand edge. If I google Schaller 3D-6 the images on the Schaller website do not show a screw in this position. Otherwise it is a well designed bridge.

I'm more of a purist when it comes to aesthetics but good luck with that.

I think the design looks good and there certainly would be a market for it, likely metal/doom fans so the explorer is a good choice.

Why not? Some folks are into that sort of stuff.

Apparently, it hurts some peoples' delicate feelings...so there's that

Parts that are not a receiver, bolt, or fire-control component are not regulated. Most anything that attaches to a Picatinny rail is open game, e.g., handle, sights, scope, laser, bipod, toaster, hair dryer, etc.
