Hi All, as I think most of us do, I often look at YouTube Videos to see reviews of Guitars, amps and so on.
I’m often fascinated by what I hear. Especially when I listen to Danish Pete (Andertons Videos) and Jim Graff (N Stuff Music).
I love those melodic, clean runs, but I don’t have any references… since I’ve grown up musically with the 80s and 90s rock, metal and thrash and just recently (last 10 years) turned to the blues I understand I lack knowledge.
I mean those jazzy (?) tones, and like chord—>scale/arpeggio—>double stops—>scale/arpeggio kind of stuff…
The closest thing I can think of is SRV’s Lenny/Tin Pan Alley/Riviera Paradise… but also some Jimi…
I really don’t have an idea where to point myself!
Can you suggest me something to improve in that direction? Genre/ Songs, albums and artists? I’d like to listen to and study some of those cool songs…

Thank you so much!

Josh Smith has a simple way of explaining things
Yes he’s great, I’ve seen some of his videos. What I wonder is “what genre should I look for?”
I thought Josh was more on the blues side, or not?
Should I look for some of his courses?

Sounds like Neo-Soul / R&B?

Modal and cool jazz are both good genres to look into.
Also, look into Arabic music.
Miles Davis' tune "All Blues"

Guitarist Kenny Burrell playing "All Blues"

John Coltrane's tune "Afro Blue"

Guitarist Derek Trucks' playing "Afro Blue"

And check out the late Grant Green. (RIP)

This guy's about as adventurous rhythmically as anyone out there- maybe try Dave Brubeck first
