Hello, I am going for a one PU esquire type guitar. It used to have a gold foil in the neck. I ended up always using the bridge in the band I play in. Now it has a B bender installed. I want to make it easier to play and just use one PU. I would like to change the wiring.

I have a stock three-way tele switch wired for neck and bridge. If I kept the switch wired the way it is, I think I could wire the dummy for the neck position and it would engage in the middle position.

This is what I think might happen
N= dummy (no sound)
M= dummy + bridge V+T
B=Bridge only V+T

This is configuration I would like.

N= Bridge only V+T
M= dummy + bridge V+T
B=dummy + bridge, straight to jack no V or T (maybe no dummy, just bridge straight to jack)

Any ideas would be great. I looked in the archives and I couldn't an example wiring scheme of what I am looking for.

Thanks!

1 Dummy + Bridge, straight to jack
2 Dummy + Bridge, V-T
3 Bridge, V-T

That's not possible.

However, your other option is possible:

1 Bridge, straight to jack
2 Dummy + Bridge, V-T
3 Bridge, V-T

Thanks a lot Moosie! I need clarity. Great diagram just what I need.

I have been trying different wiring. I have winder, now I am thinking of winding a hotter pickup. Also I have a 3.3k and 5.5 dummy coil to swap. It hard to decide what sounds better. I changed so many things, the bender, and changed the bridge to a half bridge. So the pickup is screwed into the body, raised with oak dowels. The guitar is a lot more lively, so it's a totally different beast. I could get lost in the newness of the sound options. I think it will end up being my favorite guitar. Getting the electronics right is harder with only one pickup... I think, but it's a lot of fun to have it come to life.
