Hi all, I’m designing an iteration of one of the guitars I make and I’m doing a single bridge pup. I’m also having a three way pup switch and just a single pot. I was thinking of either doing a push/pull where down is Tone wide open and volume adjustable and up is vice versa or just doing a volume pot and no tone.

I’m interested in what my options are for the pickup and was thinking of doing the eldred esquire but without second position using tone. So 1st position is pickup to output jack, 2nd is pickup with just volume control in the circuit and 3rd is eldred mod. My question is how would I do this with no tone control or with tone only adjustable with push/pull?

Hello, this seems like a trick question?

The Eldred esquire positions are as follows...
P1. Volume only
P2. Volume & Tone
P3. Preset tone (Eldred mod)

Unless I misunderstand you want the following selection which doesn't require a tone pot.
P1. No volume
P2. Volume only
P3. Preset Tone (Eldred mod)

Here's the diagram.

After posting the above, I started thinking whether it was possible to create an Esquire circuit with a standard 3-way switch to achieve the following...

Position 1. Tone Only
Position 2. Volume Only
Position 3. Preset Tone with Volume

It took me way longer than I expected but I managed to work it out. It was fun trying to work out how to swap the pot between volume and tone as you have to switch out the capacitors and the ground.
