It's a real passion for me for over 40 years. I've been playing, buying and trading since I was on the New York/CBGB/Max's punk circuit in the late 1970's. I bought my first Les Paul for $214 bucks. Eliot from Rumbleseat was on the same circuit, playing with Wayne County.
I bought my first Junior from Timm at Guitar Trader in Red Bank. My first vintage stratocaster from Richie Friedman at We Buy on 48th. Bought my first 335 from Gil Southworth. Worked the New York guitar show for all the early years. Uncle Lou and Joe Menza were kind enough to school me on bursts and custom colors at these shows. Met scores of the original vintage dealers from back in the day. Sadly, some have passed. Also spent hours upon hours learning what I can. I did what can only be described as an "Internship" at Outlaw Guitars in Jersey. I've seen a lot of strats, tele's,Esquires, Juniors etc.
All of these guys were nice enough to answer my questions. They still do. I am still in touch with all the guys I've dealt with in stores since the 1970s. I still ask questions....I still have fun with it. And now...I get the questions, too.
So....yes...I take a bit offense when someone calls my '53 Esquire a fake on a public forum.
So, guys, I apprciate your kind comments. I'm gonna take my photos down because the world is not such a safe place anymore. Sometimes its just too much of a hassle w/insurance , security etc.
I'm glad to be on this forum. I don't feel I have to qualify my judgement or expertise anymore.
Although...I still promise to ask and answer a question or 2. Cheers.
