    Hey guys,
I have a really new EC Vibrochamp and I noticed that after it is on for a while..hour or longer... the chrome control plate gets EXTREMELY Hot to the touch????

    Is this common??? Any suggestions???

    Thanks all!

That doesn't sound right but I don't know for sure. A champ chassis is pretty small though so it might heat up more than say a deluxe will.

I would imagine that an amp gets hot after a while but it was pretty hot to the touch...
I just can't imagine that it would be o.k. for it to get that hot...???
Hopefully there will be more conversation on this...

Not sure I can return/exchange after 30 days with Guitar Center..??

A tube is like 1800 degrees inside that vacuum. In a little box, that'll get hot.

Normal for it to be too hot to hold your hand on for long.
If your worried, keep a small fan blowing towards it.

I wasn't aware that the control plate could get that hot! your description is correct I would say it's not too hot to touch but just like you said "too hot to hold your hand on for long."

Thanks for the info appreciate it!!

That's why there's no air inside them. Vacuum tubes you know!

There's 4 valves running inside that little box, no top vent, stands to reason it's going to cook after a while.

Most of my amps with no control cover get like this. Like a plexi cover amp won't do this but a chrome tweed for sure will.
