    Hi,
I was a bit confused seeing so many pics of Eric Clapton playing Telecaster.
Sorry if this has already been discussed. I thought he started on a tele used it for like 2 years and then went to Gibson then in 1970 or something almost only Stratocaster.

Yeah, that's more often than I would have reckoned. I knew about the Yardbirds period, and I also knew he had a tele with a strat neck that saw use with Blind Faith, but it looks like he used them a bit more extensively than that.

The Deluxe Edition of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton (2 CD set) has some recordings made (disc 2) prior to the (supposed) date that EC got the Les Paul. If true you can compare before and after (assuming EC was using a telecaster). Regardless still great Mayall with Clapton.

Anyway great guitar players can play on whatever guitar they find.

Seems like every great guitarist falls into a “playing whatever happens to be laying around” phase for a little while.

Clapton posed for several PR photos in the mid-'80s with this Telecaster:

It's very clean looking. '80s-era reissue?
