I've been interested in getting one of them, particularly the one in worn blue denim, which I think looks real snazzy. Anybody here own one? What exactly is the worn finish? Is it a relic'ed finish or is it a satin finish?

Satin finish. The thin finish really lets these song acoustically. I was shocked how alive these guitars are. I like the non gloss satin neck too

My understanding is that it is just applied thin and without the polishing steps. You can buff a sheen into it with a little polishing compound.

I've been jonesing for a proper hollowbody to complement my Thinline Tele. I've heard some nice Casino demos lately, and got the idea that a Casino Coupe might be just the thing.

I guess I was in denial about them being the size of a Les Paul, because I went to buy one this afternoon, and came home empty-handed. It's a pity, as the neck profile was fine, and the construction and setup were pretty decent.

Unfortunately I'm 6' 2", and the Coupe felt like a toy. Plus, I have a thing about lively, resonant instruments. Although it sounded OK acoustically, it felt dead and inert. I hate thick, polyester straight-jackets!

Even the color was a turnoff- this one was a bilious turquoise.

All of a sudden, the Casino Worn is looking pretty attractive to me. I've got a hold on a Denim one at a local store, and I'm looking forward to checking it out tomorrow.

Checked out a denim blue Casino worn today. Perfect weight, and the satin finish didn't feel scratchy, like I had feared.

However, there were a few downers:
  • The blue is brighter than I had hoped- pretty close to the stock photo on Sweetwater.
  • Sweetwater also nailed the difference between the body colour and the transparent blue stain on the mahogany neck. Once I saw the clumsy transition at the neck heel, there was no way to unsee it.
  • I don't know if it was the thicker finish on the Coupe or the way they rolled the body edges, but the full-sized Worn felt a little hard-edged and uncomfortable in comparison.
  • The neck on the Worn is the same as the current gloss-finished Casinos- a D-shaped, very thin 60's taper. I'm not super sensitive about neck profiles, but I want more beef than that.
It also occurred to me that the Coupe would make a great couch guitar- perhaps even more so than my thinline tele.

So, I flip-flopped, and my dealer found me a great deal on a left-over, brand new cherry red Coupe at the Chilliwack branch. They also gave me a good trade-in value on the acoustic bass I was unloading.

Nothing left to do now, but wait for it to arrive.

I played the army green full size worn Casino a week or so ago. Neck was surprisingly thin, shredder-like. Guitar sounded good and played well, but felt like a 'beach guitar' version of a Casino.

I really like the Casino Coupe, I sold my ES-335 Dot Royale and kept the Coupe.

Sooo, the Coupe arrived a little over a week ago.

Nicely made, good finish and fretwork. I like the rounder neck profile better than the Worn Casino I checked out a while back. When I picked it up, I was able to compare it to other Epiphones- an AlleyKat, 339, 335, the same Denim Worn Casino, and a Sheraton.

I preferred the neck profile on the 339, but otherwise, the Coupe was my number 1 in every category. On closer examination, I found that the bass-side tuners had badly formed backplates on the tuners- I could see daylight between the back of the headstock and the bottom of the tuner body. Thankfully, my dealer swapped in a fresh set of tuners, so I'm not going to hold that against it.

Other than that, the setup was near perfect. It needed a little tweaking, but nothing major for the most part- I lowered and reshaped the nut, buzzed and polished the treble side of 3 frets that were a touch high, and tried to adjust the intonation.

Intonation and buzzing/rattling was my only really major beef- the stock bridge was the worst TOM I've ever seen for loose, sloppy parts. The usual fixes with melted wax, etc., couldn't touch it, and there was so much play in the saddles that it wouldn't hold intonation- it went out of whack every time I pulled it out of the case.

I just slapped a Gotoh GE103B on it, which fixed all those issues. Now all that parasitic vibration is gone, the sustain is longer and more even, it's louder acoustically, and the note attack is nicer on the upper strings. I don't like having to replace parts right of the box, even on a $500 USD instrument, but I did get a substantial discount on it, so I guess I can't complain.

My mahogany thinline tele is getting jealous:

I love my Casino worn denim. Costs 1/3 less than gloss finish here in Thailand. Love the sound, love the weight 6 3/4 lbs... love it all EXCEPT what has happened to the finish... it has taken on a greenish tinge... I don't think it is mold (haha?). It doesn't seem to have changed in places like back where rubs up against when playing. Check out the photos...
Funny thing is guy here in my beach town had one for sale on Facebook.... same problem. He said he always kept his in case, I keep mine in gig bag... any ideas on why

it would do this>
I'm keeping it anyway.... I don't care if finish even falls off..

I like the lookof the blue ones too , looks really good in person , maybe another pickguard could make it even better , on this forum I saw a picture of a blue one with a white paysley guard that looked sexy as hell !

I 've read reviews saying that the pickups were good on these Casino Worn , better than on the more expensive sunburst ones , which are pretty hot/overwound .

The main problem people are having with these china made Casinos is the neck being too thin for their taste .

The neck on my Epi Es-175 Premium seemed way too thin at first , but I got used to it in a few months , and it doesn't bother me anymore .

It's totally normal : the finish is yellowing with age , due to Ultra violet exposure in general you see it mainly on white binding becoming yellow/cream : it happened on all my archtops ( 12 to 25 years old ) .
You can see it a lot on old Pelham blue Gibsons ( virtually ALL of them ), sometimes on some old Lake placid blue Fenders.
I don't think your Casino has a nitro finish , but a very thin satin poly (depending on the formulation ) , also yellows very quickly apparently .

here are some new Pelham blue custom shop Gibsons that are sold already green :

Every single one I could find has a different level of green /blue mix .

Actually my '20 Casino Coupe neck isn't thin, it's not chunky but it's not thin.
Now my 95 MIK Casino has the narrowest nut width of any guitar I've owned, it's so narrow it's difficult to play.
The Coupe isn't a full hollow body either, the neck pickup sits inside a wooden block that's part of the neck joint.

Compared to a similar Gibson neck , the Epiphones are much thinner , but even compared to a Squier Classic Vibe neck (that are already too thin for a lot of people here ) , the Casino seem thinner than Squier CV neck .

0.84" is the only spec they give ( Casino , 339 ). To me it looks more like 0.78 " ( at the first fret )
I don't know about the Casino Coupe , but they are different guitar altogether ( built on another production chain )

Somebody recently posted a chart like these , except it was " Gibson VS Epiphone necks " , but I can't find it right now .
