welp - now I have a story w/ first hand experience.
UPS dropped of a pkg for Mrs Deeve, w/ more damage than I've seen to date.
Item - fiberboard computer desk - RTA

for her wfh - paid by her office

Trying to communicate w/ vendor and only able to reach a chat 'bot who simply Cannot Appreciate the Situation.
We can't even return the product in original packaging - the box simply doesn't have structural integrity for a ride home. AND the returns dept has terrible language - customer is gonna pay to ship 123lbs of rta fiberboard?

    sorry - rant over

    Peace - Deeve

    Looks kind of precarious

The box is terribly damaged but I can’t tell by the picture if the contents are?

Since you’ll have to rebox it could you try and assemble it and see if everything is there/intact
Or are you passed that point and just want it gone (completely understandable)

...it would have been treated better if the box said Taylor Guitar and it was shipped via United Airlines...

I used to work in a music shop, and the delivery guys would regularly deliver guitars with necks snapped clean in half where they'd just walked over the boxes in the back of the van, or holes punched in the body,
Some companies are different, but some are just staffed with underpaid, angry dudes who seem to take it out on the goods.

    Yeah, that hurts ...

If you have not signed for the package (just left on the porch), I would try to refuse accepting it and get UPS to pick it up again (not REALLY sure how the legal situation is, however)

My wife ordered some gold painted glass jars a couple of weeks ago for a party we're throwing soon. They showed delivered one day last week. They never were delivered. We contacted the company, they said to file a claim with the shipper, so we did.

Then my wife was sweeping off the front porch a couple of days later... and noticed bits of gold-painted glass all over the place. We picked some of it up and inspected it, and compared it to the pics of the gold jars on the website... yep - same stuff.

So... somehow, the delivery person either broke the jars or discovered that they were broke, right as the package made it to our front porch... and decided to do something else with them - not sure what. We don't have a front door camera. I've got to call the company back and see what else we need to do.

Put it in a bag and ship the whole mess back! Customer service is rapidly becoming a thing of the past. And I hate those service bots who exist for the sole purpose of frustrating people to the point where they just give up!

"Where the service stops with the sale" is sadly often the case with many online vendors.

Sorry this happened to you and all of us with similar experiences. Sadly I don't think there is much hope to effect a difference.

American Express formulae. Damage or loss is more than covered in the price of buying. No need to change. Only a few customers will be affected so not an issue.

Sucks but that is the way of big box business. Raise Cain but it won't cause a change; too few incidents.

If I’m home I make the driver wait while I open the box and inspect. Especially if the box is damaged.

I'd try to wrap that up "as is" with duct tape, and send it right back. That way, the seller can see exactly what was delivered to you. That is NOT acceptable.

While it is always tempting to blame the carrier, it is possible that the corrugated box for that product is way too flimsy for the weight. If this is the case, it really isn't the carrier's fault. The fault lies with the manufacturer of the product. This is very common on product from China. I've seen boxes of bolts that the bottom will separate when the box is lifted, and the bolts will all fall out the bottom. The tape or glue doesn't give up. The corrugated gives up.

I would be curious who applied all that clear tape, too. If that box was damaged in the warehouse and the shipper tried to tape it up and the corrugated was too weak for the package to begin with, it had no hope of traveling very far.

This happened to me on 2 different stereo racks. The packaging was far too flimsy for the weight of the product.

If you can contact UPS ( Might have to go their head office) Insist that a Manager come to see the item and document the damage , as I have said in my rant post ...................
