Im Not a big effects guy but I’ve recently started recording on GarageBand through an interface rather than a mic.

I’m pleased with the results so far. I Used an envelope filter on my recent track and it put a big smile on my face:

This was pure joy. I need a real one! Any suggestions? I’ve put the track there for reference. Any out there that’ll get me close to this sound?

    Cheers.

I almost said porn film but I've been deleted twice already this week and I'd like to remain a TDPRI user.

Funk city, man. Groovy tune. I have GarageBand but I don’t even use it. You’ve piqued my interests now and I’m going to try it out. I’ve been using AmpliTube these days but never tried the Envelope Filter yet. Thanks for sharing.

If I would record vocals without shure beta would languish in isolation, that that's how I feel about your decision
I like what you're doing keep at it, normally envelope filter is a choice not on the must hear , no thank you , so very kindly, list of options.
Under your command this is entertaining, I do really like envelope filter in the hands of Bernie Worrell.

Ive been recording on a Samson usb mic at home, into GarageBand and logic for the last 10 years. The plug ins have come on a long way in that time.

I appreciate the sound is a little sterile, arguably, but it’s just so easy to make a track this way. I did the bass on my Tele neck pick up with the tone rolled off 95% and played through the virtual ampeg bass amp.

That sounds a lot like my old MXR Envelope Filter. One of my favorite pedals ever!

Try the MXR Bass envelope filter (yep, a bass pedal for guitar.) I just got one this week and I love the results. I was going for Jerry Garcia vintage Mutron sound. I've tried about half dozen envelope filters and none were quite right. This pedal nails it. Definitely sounds like it could do what you are looking for. What I like best is that it has a both a dry and effect levels. Only possible drawback is that it is low pass filter only, no modes for high or band pass. I didn't care because, I only ever use low pass. Sounds like your sound was using low pass filter.

Just ordered a mint AW-3. If it's good enough for Jonny Lang, I figured what the heck. I really like my old MXR EF, but I feel the Boss will give me more options and a different feel.
