I was planning on building a 5e8a kit, but am changing my mind. I have a '94 Blues DeVille 410 that I've had for over a decade, but have wanted to replace it with am actual Bassman. The biggest issue was the cost of speakers for a kit, which is why I was just going to go with a twin (this is the second and probably final kit I'll build, after a 5e3). However, I think I may just use the Eminence blue frame alnico speakers from the DeVille. The label on the speakers indicate that they were manufactured in 1993.

So the question is, has anyone ever used these in a Bassman clone? thoughts? They sound good in the DeVille, so I'm assuming they'll sound better in an all-tube clone.

Thanks!

Yeah, do it. They have a paper former, but I think @2L man is right; a 4x10 should be pretty safe. I'm not sure they're the identical same speaker, but IIRC the famous Emi 'blue frames' came to fame in the '90s Bassman reissue. So yeah, I think someone's done it -- Fender. :)

The Emi blue's are perfect for that! I've had two tweed Bassman's with them in the past.
Why dont you just gut the Deville and build the Bassman in the chassis!? Might be an easy build.
