So I feel obliged to share my experience with anyone interested. In March we travelled to FL to record an album and I couldn't bring my guitars so I planed on using the guitars that were in the studio. Some fantastic axes were there like a 57' LP special, 59' Jr, assorted Les Pauls, strats etc. But I'm a tele guy and the dude had a 62' MIJ custom that he fitted with the emg's and SPC. Admittedly I was a sceptic, you know, f*** active pickups but man....that thing sounded so good it was unbelievable, probably the best neck pickup I've played ever, on any guitar. They are terrific!! Worked with the JCM 800, Supro, Mesa mini rectifier ( another revelation ) and a Line 6 Helix with no issues whatsoever. I'm seriously considering changing out the pickups in my tele for the emg's.

Got that exact setup in one of mine I put together back in the’80s I still have that one if that tells you anything. That spc control is my magic knob!

Toughest part is not keeping it on all the time But it really does work. Only thing that bugs me about that is the three pot thing, couldn't get used to it.

My avatar guitar is sporting the Active T set. I am so impressed that I bought the EMG Vince Gill loaded Strat guard for an autumn build, and am giving serious consideration to putting EMG humbuckers in a LAG carcass I bought online in a recent highly publicized factory buyout sale.

I have the AlNiCo EMG's in a Tele and positively love them. Other than having to cram in a battery into the control cavity, I wonder why I don't own more sets.

The spc took the place of the tone pot, still looks like a normal tele control plate. ;)

I'm addicted to the tone pot, use it constantly so too much of a trade of. However, there's a guy who takes the spc and puts it in a pedal, like the Dunlop mini wah.

How would you compare the alnico vs ceramic since you own both?

Ceramic stays a bit more defined with overdrive

I've been eyeing the T System set. From the reviews on YouTube I really enjoyed the neck pickup sound. I was a little surprised actually.

I've been hesitant for years about active pickups (multiple battery horror stories while working as a sound tech). But this would be a relatively inexpensive and whopping upgrade for the Affinity Tele I have.
