Lets talk about our favorite ways to use this awesome, low gain-to-sag drive, transparent-to-saturated OD pedal.

I have two of these, on different boards, and I use them completely opposite.

One is almost dimed-out gain after an Analogman AstroTone, and the other Im treating as a crunchy boost into a Empress Germ Drive.

What are YOU dudes into?

Well...

I built a clone of one, a couple of months ago, and it sounded great! I really liked the gain dimed, sounded to me like a light fuzz.

However, mine has an issue now, I think it has to do with the old school caps I used. However now its really fun to play with, the only way I can think to explain the sound is like an old 8 bit video game.

I should of added, I have only seen one EM drive ever on a board posted here so if you posted a pic of your board that was probably it  So you probably wont get much if any feedback on this thread.

Can anyone help me out with my EM-Drive? It doesn't seem to be doing much of anything at all. I go to unity volume at whatever gain level I choose, but it doesn't seem to add any dirt at all. The only time I get any increase in gain is either when the gain knob is dimed (giving me farty, flubby crap) or when I push the volume knob so hard the amp is forced to distort. I do get that slight EQ effect as gain is pushed, but no dirt.

I talked to Mitch and he said the amp has to be pretty wide open for the pedal to work. I tried it at pretty harsh volumes but it behaved the same way. Am I missing something? Do you have to be destroying your amp / hearing before this pedal starts working the way it's supposed to?

I'm using a Baja tele into a Carvin vintage 16, which is rather like a warm Blues Junior. I've tried the pedal with my humbucker-equipped Les Paul as well, to try to push the front end of the pedal, but no dice. Any ideas as to what's wrong? Did I get a bum pedal?

My clone sounded great for a while and then I started having issues. I believe it was the caps failing but not 100% sure. If you open it up you will probably find a couple big "NOS" PIO caps. Its the only thing I can think of why mine was working one day and the next it sounded like a fart machine.
