Elvin Bishop with a Telecaster, 1965.
Wow, not only is that Tele cool but the white Jazz Bass is too. Note the Beatles poster in the back and the picture date of JAN 1965. Cool indeed.
Looks like a Sears Silvertone Twin Twelve amp too.
Is that Paul Butterfield with the mic?
Never mind... yes it is. I just googled Elvin Bishop. Had no idea who he was.
Big John's, Chicago, 1965.
Elvin Bishop, Jerome Arnold, Sam Lay, Paul Butterfield.
Great pic, thanks!
Could that have become Mike Bloomfield's Tele eventually...hmm....

what a great set of photographs! as far as the tele, it really looks like it could be.
he fooled around and fell in love.
It looks like it could be the one Bloomfield ended up with. I had see earlier pictures of Mike Bloomfield toting a Jazzmaster style guitar so chances are he got that guitar from Bishop once Elvin switched to his ES 335 or whatever model that was. When was the Dylan concert at Newport in 65? He was playing the white tele at that concert. The dots are starting to line up!
No the dots aren't lining up...
Firstly, Bloomfield didn't have a Jazzmaster. He had a Duo Sonic.
Secondly, Bloomfield is on record saying he bought the Newport '65 Telecaster as new but without a case.
Lastly the wear on that Elvin is holding is inconsistent to the Telecaster Bloomfield had.
I opened for Bishop on the big stage in 1970. HEE! ..I'm a name-dropper!
Elvin Bishop a.k.a. Pigboy Crabshaw
I would have guessed Charlie Musselwhite with the mic. Kinda looks like him.
Saw Elvin in a small club back in the early 80's and he was indeed dressed like a pig farmer but man, he can play that red guitar.
Pigboy Crabshaw, national Merit Scholar.
I was gonna comment about the Beatles poster. I have the same poster in my music room. (sorry blowtorch)
